Our history

Isola Studios was founded in 2019 by artist Niklas Elgmo. Here at Isola Gård on Öland, we have created an environment where both art and people can take the time and space they need.

We offer original art, art courses, studio spaces, and accommodation. We want Isola Studios to be a place where it's okay to try, rethink, start over — where the process is as important as the result.

We believe in meetings between people as much as we believe in color, form, and light. It is often in the space between light and darkness that the most interesting ideas are born, and we try to give that space room.

Isola Studios offers artwork, art courses, studio spaces, and accommodation for artists. We want to build a place where the desire to create overcomes the fear of failure. It is in the meeting between light and darkness that things happen!

What we offer

Art

In our Catalog, we publish artworks that are for sale. Currently, it features a selection of original paintings by Niklas Elgmo.

Art Courses

These are aimed at both beginners and more experienced artists. Our painting courses are primarily in oil and acrylic, but also include drawing. We offer both open and private courses, held in the Öland countryside.

Art Gallery

In 2021, we laid the foundation for what will become a gallery and an outdoor stage for events. The gallery was completed in 2025.

Accommodation

We have built a guest apartment where we invite a guest artist to come and live and work on a project. The apartment was completed in 2024. The guest artist program is seeking funding.

”ISOLA is the Italian word for “island”. It is also the name of the third (and perhaps best?) album by the legendary Swedish band Kent.”
